The public health demands are extending to water-related scenarios. Swimming pools, as high-density water-related spaces, their water quality standards and filtration systems have become the core focus after drinking water. The material safety and filtration upgrade of swimming pool filter cartridge are the key points to ensure the water quality of swimming pools.
In the new situation, material safety is the foundation of pool water filter element. The filter is immersed in water for a long time and directly contacts human skin and mucous membranes. The material compliance directly relates to health and safety. Currently, traditional inferior filter materials have problems such as unstable materials, harmful substance migration, and easy bacterial growth, which cannot meet the new consumption demands. The new regulations have included water treatment materials in the control, with the addition of migration limits for bisphenol A, heavy metals, etc. in GB/T17219-2025, forcing the upgrade of filter material. The mainstream safe filter materials mostly adopt food-grade PP meltblown, modified activated carbon, and nano antibacterial composite materials, which comply with NSF/ANSI 50 standards. The upgrade of filtration accuracy is the core competitiveness of swimming pool water filter cartridge. Currently, perlite filter materials, AFM active filter materials, and multi-layer composite filter materials have become the mainstream upgrades: The perlite filter material has a precision of 1 micron, and the turbidity of the effluent can be as low as 0.1 NTU, with a significant improvement in the efficiency of intercepting tiny impurities; AFM filter material is of drinking water-level material and has self-disinfection characteristics, with a filtering performance 2 times that of quartz sand, and can reduce 50% of disinfectant usage; the composite filter material integrates meltblown, activated carbon, and antibacterial layers, balancing physical filtration, organic matter adsorption, and antibacterial functions, suitable for complex swimming pool water quality.



Under the industry upgrade wave, pool pleated filter element are moving towards the "safe + efficient + intelligent" new stage. On one hand, the material end is continuously iterating, and environmentally friendly filter materials that are degradable, long-lasting, and low in solubles have become the research focus, in line with "carbon neutrality" and health concepts; on the other hand, the integration of filtration technology and intelligent IoT, with filter materials equipped with sensors, real-time monitoring of pressure difference and turbidity, precise warning of replacement cycles, avoiding delayed operation. At the same time, the low-chlorine and no-chlorine swimming pool mode has emerged, and high-precision filter materials replace chemical agents, reducing disinfection by-products, creating a healthier aquatic environment.
From drinking water to swimming pool water, the core of water quality safety management is always material safety and technology upgrade. Currently, the swimming pool industry is in a critical period of transitioning from "meeting standards" to "healthy and high-quality", upgrading safe and compliant swimming pool filter materials, which is both an inevitable choice to meet new regulations and public health demands, and the core driving force for the high-quality development of the swimming pool industry.
